A global marketplace of uniquely local products — one per city.

Most "best souvenirs" lists are generic and interchangeable. glocal.cat starts from a different rule: every city gets exactly one product — the thing that's genuinely, specifically theirs. Not "gifts from Spain," but the espadrilles Barcelona has woven for six centuries, or the tagine Marrakech has fired in clay for just as long.

The fractal idea

The directory is built the same way at every scale. A city has one product. A region surfaces its strongest city pick. A country surfaces its strongest region. Zoom out as far as you like and there's still exactly one thing worth buying at every level — never a wall of noise.

Where we are today

We're early: this directory currently covers a small, hand-picked set of cities across Spain and a handful of other countries, each cross-checked against a real, live product listing before publishing. We're expanding the catalog city by city, and building toward an interactive map browser as the next step beyond this directory view.

How it's monetized

Where we link to a product on Amazon, we participate in the Amazon Associates programme — see our Affiliate Disclosure for details. Longer term, we also plan to let local makers and vendors claim their own city listing directly, alongside or instead of the Amazon pick.
